A Once-in-a-lifetime Fashion Trip to China was waiting for the winner of the category ECOlogical Green, Anne Lonnes. Together with Aping Li-Herold, president of the Verein der Überseechinesen, she traveled to China in November 2015.
During the week Anne visited several manufactories in the urban fringe of Shenzhen and had the chance to see how her Chinese colleagues create drafts and digital prints for the next season. Shenzhen is a rising modern metropolis with 12,5 million inhabitants near Hongkong. With its dynamic network of fashion schools, manufactories and experienced designers the city offers a great network for upcoming fashion designer.
The highlight of Anne’s trip was certainly a visit to the studio of Opera Fashion, a label owned by fashion designer Yinghau Pang and her colleague Josephine Yipkah.
The two Chinese designers already presented their luxurious designs to the guests and visitors at last year’s Award Gala and during the Airlebnistag “Fashion on Air” at the Frankfurt Airport.
Opera Fashion’s grand and unique showroom offers enough space for the luxurious and feminine dresses which are made of exclusive fabrics and fond details.
Anne also had the chance to experience a typical Chinese fabric market. The diversity and the magnificence of the offered fabrics, materials and accessories were fascinating for the young German design student. “At this market is everything what a designer loves. Silk, wool, print designs, beads and a lotmore.” Having been so inspired by the colorful materials, she instantly bought fabrics for her new collection.
“I’m very thankful for this great opportunity to visit such an amazing country. It was very rewarding and I’m sure it will further influence my career as a fashion designer.”
