FRANKfurtstyleaward 2019 – Deadline extended until March 7, 2019

“Hessen Young Talent Award for Fashion & Design”/ Scholarships by HFFA Milano

 Kronberg, 28th February 2019 – Due to the growing demand from fashion schools in Germany and abroad, the registration period has been extended by one week until 7 March 2019 at 12.00 CET.

Official sponsor of the FRANKfurtstyleaward this year is HA Hessen Agentur GmbH and is supporting the first “Hessen Talent Award for Fashion & Design” with prize money of 10,000 Euros. The prize money goes to the three levels Students, Master Class and Newcomer, each with the first three winners: 1st place 1,500 Euro, 2nd place 1,000 Euro and 3rd place 500 Euro.

HFFA Milano sponsors master course scholarships at the highest level

The Haute Future Fashion Academy Milano (HFFA), innovative training centre in the fields of high-end luxury fashion, haute couture and design concept, is once again offering highly coveted master courses in “Art Direction for Fashion Design and Haute Couture”. Thus the 1st place will be awarded a 100% scholarship (estimated value about 45.000€); 2ndplace will be awarded a 75% scholarship (estimated value about 33.750€) and the 3rdplace will be awarded a 50% scholarship (equivalent estimated around 22,500€). 

FRANKfurtstyleaward Jury welcomes two African designers

The influences of African fashion have inspired the Western fashion world for a long time and their bright colours and bold prints simply spread a good mood. It is therefore a fortunate coincidence that this year two internationally acknowledged African TOP-designers are taking part as jury members. One of them is the Kenyan Waridi Schrobsdorff, who lives in Berlin. She founded her own company for African fashion in 2013 and has set herself the goal of redesigning African fashion and creating projects that connect the two worlds of Germany and Africa through the language of fashion.

Rama Diaw, Fashion designer from Saint Louis (Senegal) designs modern African fashion and accessories using local techniques and materials such as batik and indigo fabrics, which are mainly produced in Mauritania and Mali. With her association “Aissaitou” she supports disadvantaged tailors, seamstresses and dyers in her home country.

The FRANKfurtstyleaward (www.frankfurtstyleaward.com) is one of the most important international competitions for young talent in Fashion & Design and stands for a sustainable talent and career platform that promotes innovative ideas, creativity and outstanding creative achievement. In the FrankfurtRhineMain metropolitan region, the international competition for young talent has become a beacon project that has put fashion back on the agenda. With the FRANKfurtstyleaward, FrankfurtRhineMain and Hessen, under the patronage of the City of Frankfurt and its long-standing partner Messe Frankfurt, Fraport AG and the Wirtschaftsinitiative FrankfurtRheinMain e.V., it will become the centre for the best fashion & design schools from all over the world. Record breaking numbers of participants, a growing pool of international participants and the expansion of the FRANKfurtstyleaward network of international fashion design schools are the result of the successful establishment of the competition.

For the first time the participation is open for three levels: STUDENTS, MASTER CLASS and NEWCOMER. What in the past ten years has only been reserved for fashion students and students is now being extended by three levels also to alumni and finalists of past FRANKfurtstyleawards – without any age restrictions. The three shows with the 20 TOP designs “Urban”, “Adventure” and “Earth” will be stagedat Tendence on 29 June 2019. It will be followed by a festive AWARD ceremony with the finalists of the competition and official sponsors, representatives, supporters and friends as well as exhibitors and guests from fashion, design, industry, culture and society. Tendence is the trade fair for consumer goods from the home, furnishing, decorating, gift articles, jewellery, fashion supplies, everything to enjoy, kitchen and home textiles combined.

FRANKfurtstyleaward 2019 – Open for Students, Master Class and Newcomer

Age limit of 35 years is rescinded / application deadline ends February 28, 2019

Kronberg/Frankfurt, February 5, 2019 – The 11th call for entry for the FRANKfurtstyleaward is already in full swing and has attracted active participation by alumni, students and nearly 1000 schools from all over the world. The registration deadline runs until the end of February 2019. The finale on June 29, 2019 with fashion shows and awards ceremony will – for the first time – take place at Tendence, the trade fair for consumer goods for your home — furnishing, decorating, gifts, jewelry, fashion supplies, kitchen and home textiles — in Frankfurt am Main.

For the first time, participation is split into three categories: STUDENTS, MASTER CLASS and NEWCOMER. What in the past ten years has only been reserved for fashion and university students is now being extended to three categories due to popular demand: master students and newcomers with their own label, as well as alumni and finalists of past FRANKfurtstyleawards – without any age restrictions. The shows of the 20 TOP designs in the finals at Tendence will be staged on June 29, 2019 in the marketplaces: “Urban”, “Adventure” and “Earth” before a festive AWARD ceremony with the finalists of the competition and guests from fashion, design, industry, culture and society.

International Brand Ambassador for the FRANKfurtstyleaward 2019

Official ambassador is Cindy Gomez, international music star from Canada. Her performance at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Calgary and the music video “Legendary” are world famous. As a music star, actress, model and designer she is enthusiastic about the vision of the FRANKfurtstyleaward and dedicates her performance in Frankfurt to the young talents.

FRANKfurtstylaward 2019 – Heimat 4.0 is the motto

The 11thCall is addressed to around 1,000 fashion schools, their students, master classes and alumni all over the world.

Frankfurt/Kronberg, 03. December 2018 – The FRANKfurtstyleaward goes into its next round in 2019 with the guiding theme HEIMAT 4.0*. It is devoted to the homeland of the multicultural platform of the international talent contest and its main sponsors, longstanding partners and friends from the metropolitan region Frankfurt/RheinMain.

“With the 2019 FRANKfurtstyleaward we are focusing on an omnipresent topic which affects all of us: HEIMAT (home, homeland) – it’s time for a Heimat 4.0 and it is now open as a fashion(able) market place,” says Hannemie Stitz-Krämer, founder of the AWARDS for Fashion and Design by now renowned throughout the world. “It will take the best 60 young designers with their creative and cultural statements to Frankfurt to conquer with the TOP60 COLLECTION “HEIMAT 4.0” the international world of fashion”.

The 11th Call of the FRANKfurtstyleaward, which will run from 1 December 2018, will redefine the topic of “Heimat” and invites young, upcoming fashion designers to provide this term with a new set of clothes – literally speaking. On 29 June 2019, the final will take place with fashion shows and an award ceremony at the Tendence, the international consumer goods fair of Messe Frankfurt.Frankfurt is the home of the FRANKfurtstyleaward. The joint patronage of the City of Frankfurt together with Fraport AG and Messe Frankfurt has turned this contest into a highly acclaimed international talent contest for fashion and design. After a creative pause, the 2019 contest has been reinvented and taken to the next level.

New Jury Members

Next year there will be five new members of the jury. These include the haute couture designer and Berlin fashion award winner Mahi Degenring as well as Christine Fehrenbach, keynote speaker on fashion, innovation and sustainability and brand concept expert; Detlev Wildermuth, Director of the European School of Design and Elmar Schüller,innovation, design and business expert (“red dot design award”). Anastasia Liebe, a young upcoming designer from Wiesbaden has already been part of the success story of the FRANKfurtstyleaward as 2015 winner and is now in the line-up of the jury members.

New Group of Applicants

For the first time participation is subdivided into three levels: STUDENTS, MASTER CLASS and NEWCOMERS. What was reserved during the past 10 years merely to fashion students, will be extended by general request by the levels Master Students and Newcomers with an own label, ie including alumni and finalists of past FRANKfurtstyleawards (age limit: 35 years). The shows of the 20 TOP-Designs from the three categories in the final at Tendence will be staged on 29 June 2019 on the market places: “Urban”, “Adventure” and “Earth”. They will be followed by an AWARD ceremony with the finalists of the contest and guests from the worlds of fashion, design, industry, culture and society.

New: Guest Countries from Africa

Fashion from the African continent is at present more than a rising star – we are looking forward to impulses and inspiration from our guest countries and outstanding fashion designers who preserve their cultural heritage and make it sustainable and viable for the future.

International Brand Ambassador for the 2019 FRANKfurtstyleaward

The official ambassador is the international music star Cindy Gomez from Canada. Her appearance at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Calgary and the music video “Legendary” are world-famous. As a music star, actress, model and designer, she is thrilled by the vision of the FRANKfurtstyleaward and devotes her appearance at the award gala as ambassador to the young talents:

International Roadshow

With the TOP60 COLLECTION “HEIMAT 4.0” the FRANKfurtstylaward Roadshow will go on a world tour from July 2019 onwards. Planned stations are Berlin (NEONYT), Paris, (Texworld, Apparel Sourcing, Avantex, Leather World) and Fashion Weeks in the fashion metropolises. The final highlights will be the show at THE ARTS+ Culture Festival at the 2019 Frankfurt Book Fair and a FRANKfurtstyleaward City Event in Frankfurt am Main in November.

Call for Entry for the FRANKfurtstyleaward 2019 is now open

It’s time for the FRANKfurtstyleaward 2019. The call for entry is now open!

HEIMAT 4.0 is the motto of the FRANKfurtstyleaward 2019.

The FRANKfurtstyleaward is now open for three levels:

  • STUDENTS (students who are enrolled at international fashion & design schools)
  • MASTER CLASS (master students)
  • NEWCOMER (newcomer/alumni with own label, finalists of past FRANKfurtstyleawards – no age limit)

We invite you to provide the term with a new set of clothes. Fashion reflects Heimat. But what does the reflection show? Do we have to revolutionize Heimat? Or do we have to return to our roots?

HEIMAT as a fashion(able) market place is now opened. Show us how fashion translates Heimat. Affirmatively or surprisingly? What can fashion tell us about Heimat? In business, in daily life and in many different lifestyles – from URBAN via ADVENTURE to EARTH?

By the end of November, the “Call for Entry” will be sent to more than 1,000 fashion schools worldwide. And from this point of time, the online tool for applications will be active on our homepage.
