From 2008 to 2016, the PR agency PUBLIC RELATIONS PARTNERS Gesellschaft für Kommunikation mbH located in Kronberg im Taunus near Frankfurt am Main was administrator and initiator of the FRANKfurtstyleaward. Together with partners, the agency invested yearly in the growth of the contest with the goal to institutionalize the contest as a worldly, international and sustainable career platform for the next generation of fashion designers. What role does the partner country play?

Each year, a different guest country provides a special focus for the FRANKfurtstyleaward. Representatives of the fashion schools and talent contest in that country should help spark new concepts, ideas and values for fashion specific to that country. After the successful premiere of the partner country in 2014, we were happy to continue the tradition and invited Italy as the second partner country to the FRANKfurtstyleaward in 2015. Together with our partner the Italian Chamber of Commerce – Camera di Commercio Italiana per la Germania, we planned an exciting and multifaceted fashion, art, culture and culinary program that exemplified the “made in Italy” trademark. In 2016, China was the partner and offered interesting challenges for the finalists, e.g. to present their design at the Intertextile Shanghai. This was followed by the USA in 2017, the 10th anniversary of the contest, and Africa in 2019.

Who makes up the Jury for the FRANKfurtstyleaward?

An experienced, interdisciplinary jury of experts will evaluate and select the finalists. International jury members will contribute their knowledge and decades of experience in the fashion industry to the International Talent Contest in Fashion & Design. Every year, a special guest-of-honour from the invited guest country joins the jury panel to make the final decision. Last year’s guest-of-honour Dominque Deroche acted as right-hand to the inspirational Yves Saint Laurent for more than 40 years.
